Best advice ever given or received

What is the best fatherly advice you or your husband has ever given to your child or the best advice you received from your own dad?

I would have to say I think the best advise I've given my daughter is "Can't do something is only a state of mind. We can do anything we put our minds to". I try to instill in her that I can't do is a phrase that should not be in our minds. It should always be, I tried my best, lets see how much better I can do the next time.
